Vintage Cafe & City Deli

Some days, we're looking for good food without the fuss. We'd like to just pick it up and go, or have a quick sit-down without waiting for the check.

A small sign marks the spot for Vintage Cafe & City Deli on Washington Ave. in Cedarburg. It can be easy to miss the cafe, in a historical building with a brick and half-timber façade.

But that would be a shame; it's a charmer. Open the door and descend a few stairs to the restaurant, which is outfitted with some comfy furniture for lounging - maybe with a glass of wine from nearby Cedar Creek Winery or a beer - and about a dozen tables for dining. But when the days are warm, I make a beeline for the patio.

That's where a half-dozen tables surrounded by black-eyed Susan's, hydrangeas and other plants afford a view of Cedar Creek meandering by. It's a relaxing, pleasant way to pass lunch.
